Paul and Marc Milani, Christopher Columbus High School students, were inspired to begin a Cystic Fibrosis Fundraiser by watching their cousin struggle with the disease.  They contacted their local Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Chapter and decided to participate in their Cure Finders Program which helps students implement fundraisers at their schools.  After getting approval from their Principal and enlisting the help of their good friend and fellow classmate Adam Alvarez and a Columbus teacher who’s wife has the disease, Mr. Dan Ciocca, the group launched the fundraiser.  They made daily announcements on the school’s intercom and spent lots of time explaining to students what the disease is and how important research dollars are for continuing to provide new medications and other life sustaining programs. The group also did some corporate fundraising by contacting Dominick and Dominick LLC.  In total the group raised $3,026 and a special check presentation took place on May 14, 2007 whereby the group submitted the check to a representative of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
