Information for Senior Parents - How to Guide Your Senior
As explorers step through the gates of Columbus they also step into a gateway that leads them toward the best in college preparation. The college and career counseling process starts as early as 9th grade for Columbus students and continues throughout their four years of school. Our dedicated guidance staff not only provides college and career information but also administers PSAT, SAT, and ACT information, summer programs, scholarships, financial aid opportunities, community referrals, workshops and guest speakers.
The department’s counseling program is a comprehensive developmental program designed to provide students with individual academic and personal attention. Throughout the year, our counselors meet with every student in the school. Our counselors are trained to evaluate the abilities, interests, skills, and goals of students so that they can best counsel them on important college issues and decisions. They also work extensively with parents, teachers, and the administration to monitor the progress of students.
Please be sure to go on Edline to view all the updated information on the guidance department and please do not hesitate to contact any of our counselors with questions. |
Guidance Services Guidance services are provided to all students in the school. Students may request an appointment with their counselor at any time; other scheduled appointments are initiated by the counselor.
Each counselor schedules interviews that address academic needs and college and vocational guidance. The counselor assigned to each class has access to and organizes the cumulative academic record of each individual student, including grades and standardized test results. The college counselor assists the seniors with college applications, scholarships, and financial aid information. The members of the Guidance Department are available for personal counseling in an effort to provide assistance for the student’s full development. |
