The Christopher Columbus High School Speech and Debate Team competes in year- round interscholastic debate tournaments on a local, regional, and national level. Various formats of Speech and Debate competition are available to each student based on his preference and interests. Included is: Policy Debate, also called Cross-Ex (CX) Debate or Team Debate (TD), is a two-person team format in which the team is expected to be able to argue for or against the benefits of a proposed policy as directed by a year-round nationally approved topic.
Membership on the Speech and Debate Team is open to any student enrolled at CCHS Students are expected to keep a 3.0 unweighted GPA. The Columbus Speech and Debate Team is a member of the Florida Forensic League (FFL), the National Catholic Forensic League (NCFL), and the National Forensic League (NFL).
