Purpose of the National Honor Society:
The purpose of the National Honor Society is to create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote leadership and to develop character in each member.

Specific Guidelines:
 To insure the fulfillment of the purpose of the National Honor Society and to safe-guard its integrity, the following guidelines must be accepted by the candidate for membership.

  1. The academic standard for maintaining membership is a minimum cumulative GPA of a 4.0 and no grade lower than a C average.
  2. If a member falls below the 4.0 academic standards at any grading period, he will have the opportunity to regain the minimum grade by the next marking period.  Failure to meet this condition will require review by the faculty council of the NHS for possible dismissal or probation.
  3. Attendance at all meetings is mandatory.  The moderator of the National Honor Society has the responsibility for issuing the excused absence.
  4. The member must regularly participate in projects approved by the NHS members.  They could include school activities, community activities, and educational appropriate activities.
  5. The members shall have the responsibility for choosing and participating in a service project which reflects his particular talents and interests.
  6. A member who falls below the standard which is the basis for selection and membership shall be promptly warned in writing by the chapter moderator and given a reasonable amount of time correct the deficiency.
