* These columns are used to determine honors and class ranks.
** The Florida GPA is used for reporting to the State of Florida in reference to graduation, athletic eligibility, and Florida Bright Futures requirements.

The values assigned to letter grades determine a student's grade point average. The average is used to determine the Honor Roll. The average also determines a student's rank. Colleges, when considering a student's application, use rank as one of the criteria for admission. Finally, the Florida GPA determines high school extra-curricular eligibility and Florida Bright Futures scholarship eligibility.

Grades in all courses, whether the courses are half credit or full credit, are used in determining one's grade point average.

For a yearlong's subject's final grade, each marking period grade contributes 20% and the midyear and final exams contribute 10% each. For half ((0.5) credit subjects, the final grade is determined numerically on the entire semester and a letter grade is assigned at the end of the semester.  If there is a final exam, the semester values 80%  and the exam values 20%.  If the grade point average for a subject is .99 or less at the end of the year, the grade in that subject is F.

The final report card issued in June will contain the student's grade point average for the year.

Cumulative GPA's and rank reflect only completed course work; these do not include marks from courses in progress.
